The Night Country

for february 2010, fireball wrote a bunch of words and sent them out to farflung folks to put them to music. seventeen songs came back from that venture. fireball added a little bit to many of the songs, with mixed results. here is information about the songs.

heavy water

      words by fireball
music and performance by molly thornton
      fairbanks, alaska
bass and drums added by fireball

You and me and the Baltic
Pu-239 pixie dust
A world full of weight and of water
Whatever happened to us?

Drip Drop the water
Down like the dew
A plus and a minus
zero, one, two
sometimes it's hard to stay neutral

Swallow, Grouse, and Gunnerside
Tronstad and Telemark
Knut Haukelid, alias "Bonzo"
Lake Tinnsjø in the dark

Drip Drop the water
Different speeds
A wave and an orbit
one, two, three
sometimes it's okay to be brutal
sometimes you gotta be brutal
sometimes the world can be brutal
sometimes love can be brutal

Riding delirium ferries
Heavy water filling the cup
And the weight all drifts to the bottom
When the keel of the Hydro blows up

Drip Drop the water
out on the shore
dark and heavy in norway
two, twenty, forty-four

You and me and the Baltic
Pu-239 pixie dust
A world full of weight and of water
Whatever happened to us?
